Bega Kwa Bega

Bethlehem has formed a partnership with the Image Lutheran Parish of the Iringa Diocese of Tanzania. Annual gifts are sent to the village to aid them in building their church facilities. Visits were made to Image in 2003 (congregational visit) and 2010 (senior pastor’s sabbatical).

Plans are being made to visit Image once again in August of 2012. Every year we sponsor 10-12 students from the Image Parish so that they can attend secondary school. Scholarships are $350 per year per student.

Quilting

Bethlehem Quilters welcome the opportunity to make quilts for World Relief and local needs and gifts for many occasions such as graduations, retirements, Christmas or baby gifts.

Our quilt making is a tangible way to express love to our neighbors. Our quilts may be used for comfort, warm bedding, gifts, or even tents!  Each quilt reflects God’s loving presence in our world in need.

We always welcome volunteers to help, in their own time frame, with cutting squares, sewing squares at home or helping put together the finished product as group. The Bethlehem Quilters typically meet as a group once a month* to tie quilts that have been cut and sewn together at home by volunteers.  Anyone interested is encouraged to join in this fellowship time whenever convenient.  No experience needed. 

*Monthy meetings will resume once COVID-19 restricitons are lifted.

Lutheran Disaster Relief

Whenever a major disaster happens in the world or in the United States we take up a collection immediately to send to Lutheran Disaster Relief Domestic or Global. We confidently give our relief dollars to this organization knowing that it is one of the best and most efficiently run relief organizations in the world. LDR is often one of the first to arrive with aid on the scene of a major disaster.

World Hunger Appeal

​Special offerings are received on a regular basis during worship for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. Individuals may also direct their gifts to the Hunger Appeal from their giving envelopes. Bethlehem has a designated fund with this title. Every year on “Souper Bowl” Sunday the youth of the parish challenge the congregation to give to the team of their choice. Proceeds are sent to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.
